Hed Kandi Presents Beach House - Double CD Compilation

Break out your bongos and get your smooth vibe on with this debut US release of "Beach House" by the U.K. based Hed Kandi label. Smooth house grooves infused with Latin rhythms and jazz flair are the order of the day on this double CD compilation. Far far away from the in-your-face dance floor doldrums, "Beach House" offers an alternative to the sometimes overly commercialized dance music genre.

London based Hed Kandi is a lifestyle concept combining a record label, a radio show, international club nights, and a distinguished graphic style. Formed in 1999 by DJ and A&R man Mark Doyle and catering to a generation of grown up clubbers and music lovers, Hed Kandi has become widely recognized for its series of eclectic compilations that tie directly into the weekly Hed Kandi radio show on JazzFM 102.2 in London and 100.4 in the Northwest of England. Worldwide listeners can tune into the program at

Stand out tracks on disk 1 include the Sade/Kristine W sounding Julius Papp featuring Gina Rene track entitled "A Thousand Years" (Sunrise Vocal Mix) as well as Kaskade's "It's You, It's Me" (Album Mix). Another Disk 1 highlight is Nick Holder's "Summer Daze" (Original 12" mix). Disk 2 highlights include Mambana's "No Reason" (Axwell Vocal Mix), Jetlag's "So Right", and Octave One's "Black Water" (Vocal Mix).

Overall a great listen. The album has a very relaxing smooth feel to it. I would have preferred it to have been mixed, but perhaps the individuality of the tracks will allow DJ's to take tracks off as needed. You can't help but to feel that calming South Beach vibe while listening to it. Some people may say it's a bit too radio jazz sounding, but the eclectic combination of tracks keep the compilation from becoming too much of any one thing. So whether it's 90 degrees outside or minus 9, Hed Kandi's "Beach House" is sure to warm the soul while offering a cool take on paradise.
